Abstract art is for me is non programatic music - just abstract. One can imagine a narrative aspect to the Chamberlains - I have fond memories of exploring car junk yards at age 8 and maybe he has a tie to car parts also - but he does not make it known. Chamberlain’s comments are telling, and is the comment of a working artist, that he could only know what he thought he meant. To me his art, and all great art comes through the heart, soul, hands and gut, as well as the brain, where thought resides. We are complex beings with only a small amount of knowledge as to what makes us tick. Art, being a outward expression of our being, also lives in the unknown. Like people, art becomes experienced and known by us giving our attention to it. By becoming acquainted to its intricacies, its forms, and when we are in relationship to it, we may recognize the parts of it that we identify with.
