I've finished hooking one of the panels of "Floating Squares"; for the square, I've stayed within the geometry, starting with the outside edge and moving inwards around the square, row by row, which makes a nice crisscross through the center. The random hooking of the variegated wool creates a soft background color. When I work on the background, I try to choose colors and hooking directions to create a gentle sense of movement or pattern. Below is a closeup of the completed blue square from the second panel.

ReplyDeleteI love this. How do you do the background? I love the subtle movement and the contrast with the crisper lines of the square. Beautiful
